If you’re looking for your next best friend, come join us August 1 between 10am to 2pm at Kokomo Auto World to help us find homes for the lonely pets in our community.
Kokomo Auto World is teaming up with the Kokomo Humane Society for an adoption event to benefit animals in our community with a home or family.
Where is the event?
The adoption event will be held at Kokomo Auto World, 3813 S. Lafountain Street, Kokomo, Indiana.
Will there be both dogs and cats to choose from?
Yes! The Kokomo Humane Society will be bringing a large selection of both dogs and cats eligible for adoption.
What will I need to do to qualify to adopt?
Those seeking to adopt will need to complete an application at the event. The Kokomo Humane Society will lead you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
What is the cost to adopt?
The cost for cats is free, but donations are encouraged, and the cost for dogs ranges from $50 to $130 (depending on their spay/neuter status). Each pet also comes with a starter kit from the Humane Society, which includes food, a toy, and a tennis ball so you can start having fun with your new friend right away!
Will I be able to take my new pet home the same day?
If you successfully complete the application and your new pet is already spayed/neutered, definitely! If the animal you’re seeking to adopt has yet to be spayed or neutered, you will have to wait for that process to be completed before taking your dog or cat home.
How can I make a donation to the Kokomo Humane Society?
If you want to offer even more help, or if you’re just not able to adopt a pet right now but still want to help, there will be designated donation boxes present at the event. If you adopt that day, you can also include a donation with your adoption fee. If you can’t make it out for the event, you can always donate here.
How about a new ride for your new friend?
Leave Kokomo Auto World with a new friend and a new ride! Come see us before or after the event to shop for your next car, truck, or SUV.
If you plan on spending your summer vacation in Kokomo this summer, you should still have your vehicle checked and, if necessary, serviced, before you head out to any summer events. If you are in the market for a new vehicle but had planned on holding off for a bit, change your plans and stop by Kokomo Auto World to test drive the vehicle you are interested in – it would be so much nicer to travel to events, even local events, in a brand new car, truck or SUV.

If you get a new pet, especially a larger dog, you might need a new car to take your new best friend everywhere with you. Whether you want to go to the beach, to the dog park or go shopping for your new best friend, you’ll need some reliable transportation; and should you take your new dog, something that will transport the dog.
Whether you choose from a new hybrid vehicle or a larger SUV, choose the vehicle with your pet in mind. If you have a black lab that loves to go swimming, you might be better off with the Pilot or Odyssey. Ask for a trim level with a built in vacuum so it’s easier to vacuum beach sand and pet hair from you new car without having to drag a vacuum outside or go to the car wash every time you take your new best friend out.
The 2015 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite features a vacuum in the rear cargo area. The vacuum features a removable dust bin, hose that reaches the front of the vehicle and two attachments. This is perfect for cleaning up after children and pets.
Additional features include HondaLink, push-button start, various cargo configurations, audio touch screen, Bluetooth, Cool Box an 8-inch intelligent multi-information display, satellite-linked navigation, USB, Song-by-Voice, blind sport information, a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and a DVD rear entertainment center.

Darrough Chapel Park

Also at the park, you’ll find the Darrough Chapel Veteran’s Memorial. The Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Park was dedicated in 2002 and it commemorates soldiers who were in the Vietnam Conflict. Veterans’ names are engraved in a stone wall surrounding a statue of a kneeling soldier and in the bricks on the walkway leading to the statue.
The Civil War Cannon
Visit Highland Park’s Visitor’s Center to see the recently restored Kokomo Cannon, a cannon that was originally donated by Thomas J. Harrison Post #30 of the Grand Army of the Republic by Congress on August 8, 1882. Of the two cannons donated, only this one remains. It is a 12-pound bronze field Howitzer. The cannon was originally to honor Civil War veterans, but now honors all veterans.
Vermont Covered Bridge
