Summer Road Trip Destinations

Wednesday, May 6th, 2015

Before you head out for your summer road trip destination, be sure to stop at Kokomo Auto World to have your vehicle serviced. At the very least, if your vehicle is not ready to be serviced, stop by to have it checked for the road trip. And, if you are in the market for a new vehicle, pick something out before your trip so you can ride in style.

This summer, consider visiting Kentucky. If you have limited time, this is the perfect road trip as many places are only a four-hour drive from Kokomo. Kentucky has something for everyone. Visit the Kentucky Horse Park, the National Corvette Museum, the General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant and the Lost River Cave and Valley. The cave is over 10,000 years old and was discovered by native Indians. Take a walking tour through the cave. And, if you like caves, be sure to visit the Crystal Onyx Cave, an Indian burial ground from 680 BC.

You can also visit the Schmidt Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia, Lost River Caverns, Swope’s Cars of Yesteryear Museum, the Kentucky Derby Museum, Churchill Downs and the Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor.

If you are interested in how liquor is made, visit the Maker’s Mark Distillery to take a 50-minute tour or Jim Beans American Outpost to learn about bourbon. For pure relaxation, visit the Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site, Lake Barkley State Resort Park, Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park or Kenlake State Resort Park. Enjoy camping, fishing, swimming, boating, golf, hiking, horseback riding and more.

Spring Road Trips

Monday, March 30th, 2015

Now that it’s spring, you’re probably ready to get out of the house and go on a trip just for the sake of being out in nice weather. As part of your road trip planning, be sure to have your vehicle checked – or serviced if needed – at Kokomo Auto World. And, if think it’s time for something new, stop by to test drive one or three new Honda or Toyota models.

Head over to Lafayette to shop at over 15 antique outlets and storefronts. Be sure to stop by Bistro 501 for some great food including cheeseboards, frites and mussels. This is a great way to increase your antique collection or get one started.

Stop in Williamsport to visit the Blue Elephant Store and Williamsport Falls. Take the trail downstream to stand under the 90-foot sandstone falls. Be sure you have your camera for some great pictures.

If you visit Lafayette and didn’t get enough antique shopping in, stop by Leaping Leopard Antiques and Back Home Again Antiques in Covington where you’ll find everything from kitchenware to primitives. Grab some soft serve cookie dough Razzle at the Sundae Shoppe.

Visit this river-front hamlet to hike the Rivertown Trail, grab some sliced-to-order sandwiches at Vecchio’s Italian Market and Delicatessen or buy some fashions at Flutter. You just might walk away with a pair of Isola wedge booties or something else you didn’t plan on when you stop by.

Toyota TeenDrive365

Although teenagers might deny it, they learn pretty much everything they know from their parents. After 16 years of them watching you drive, they are certainly going to mimic the way you drive when it comes time for them to get behind the wheel. Whether it’s putting makeup on as you take them to school, checking your phone, or exhibiting frustration toward other drivers, your teenage passenger is subconsciously taking notes as to how to act and react behind the wheel. That is why Toyota launched the TeenDrive 365 campaign as an initiative to remind parents that their teen drivers learn from watching them drive. (more…)
