While we know our 2019 Honda Pilot models are among the best investment you can make for your family's next new vehicle, we also know it may not be the only SUV vying for your attention. That's why we've taken this three-row model and compared it to some of its main competitors from other popular brands.

We hope the information here will help you the next time you're faced with a new-vehicle shopping decision.

2019 Honda Pilot vs. Ford Explorer

  • Seating. While the 2019 Honda Pilot has standard seating for up to eight people, the Ford Explorer only accommodates a maximum of seven people. If you have a larger family, the 2019 Honda Pilot will be more capable of handling all of your daily tasks.
  • Standard safety features. Starting at the entry-level trim for the 2019 Honda Pilot, every model comes with a slew of advanced safety features, including forward collision with automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control. The Ford Explorer does not offer these features as standard equipment. In fact, drivers have to move up past the entry-level trim to upper models to get the same safety features.

2019 Honda Pilot vs. Jeep Grand Cherokee

  • Interior space. The 2019 Honda Pilot is, of course, a three-row model. With seating for up to eight people, it's perfect for families with several children. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, on the other hand, only has two rows of seating, with a maximum seating capacity of five. If you need the room of a three-row model, the 2019 Honda Pilot is probably a better fit.
  • Standard features. As with the Ford Explorer comparison before it, the 2019 Honda Pilot comes out ahead of the Jeep Grand Cherokee in terms of features and safety equipment as well. While advanced driver's aids are standard on every 2019 Honda Pilot, drivers have to move up to the upper-to-middle trim levels to find the same level of features on the Grand Cherokee.

2019 Honda Pilot vs. Chevy Traverse

  • Base model availability. The 2019 Honda Pilot LX is the base model version, and it's a popular choice for Kokomo drivers who want a lot of features at the entry-level trim. However, the Chevy Traverse doesn't really offer drivers that option, because its base model, the Traverse L, is a built-to-order trim, and is not readily available on most dealer lots. If you're searching for an entry-level model, you'll have to move up in levels for the Traverse, or else special-order the Traverse L trim level.
  • Advanced safety features. Once again, the 2019 Honda Pilot is the clear winner when it comes to equipping drivers with standard safety features. All of the advanced equipment the 2019 Honda Pilot comes with isn't an option to Chevy Traverse drivers until they move about halfway up the list of available trims.
